Jason Rhein recently completed two consecutive seasons as Music Producer for the Disney television series Imagination Movers, which won an Emmy for the song he Co-Produced, "Boing Cluck Cluck." Jason has produced over 50 songs with the acclaimed kids music group, many of which have been released on their Walt Disney Records soundtrack, "For Those About to Hop." Jason also doubles as Music Supervisor for the TV series, and is currently on a national tour with the Imagination Movers.
On the video front, Jason recently worked as Director of Photography on the acclaimed documentary Mine, directed by Geralyn Pezanoski. The film won the "Audience Award" at both the 2009 SXSW Film Festival and the 2009 San Francisco Film Festival, and is set for theatrical release in major U.S. markets in January 2010, followed by a national airing on PBS and national DVD distribution.
Prior to the above, Jason worked for 9 years as Technical Director for the award-winning, nationally syndicated American Public Media radio show American Routes. In addition to editing and mixing the 2 hour weekly program, Jason produced, recorded and mixed dozens of interview and live performance segments with enduring musical greats such as Randy Newman, Toots Hibbert, Dolly Parton, Norah Jones, Natalie Merchant, Neko Case, and many others.
Jason is also the bassist and co-songwriter/producer in the New Orleans rock group, Rotary Downs, which released "Chained to the Chariot" in 2006 ("****" - Alternative Press ) and is set to release a new album in February 2010. The group has played at music festivals and showcases across the U.S. including Bonnaroo, Voodoo Fest, JazzFest. High Sierra Music Fest, SXSW and MIDEM International in Cannes, France.
Jason is a graduate of the University of New Orleans in Communications/Film.
